Show Rehearsal Schedule

Show Rehearsal Schedule

Please find below a schedule of additional rehearsals for the Show. We do realise that some of you may not be able to make all the rehearsals but are grateful to those of you who have managed to juggle things around a little to squeeze everything in. We know it’s not always easy, but these additional rehearsals will help ensure that all students are able to truly do their best in the show.

Closer to each rehearsal we’ll take a note of who isn’t going to be able to attend – please don’t drown Penni in “we can’t make that one” messages right now! For now, we want to just get this information out so that you know what’s going on when.

As you know, we are also updating our database currently, and as soon as all the students participating in the Show have been added (some of you still haven’t returned your forms!) we’ll be able to update you via email if anything changes.

MTC receives Gold Award

MTC has several different partners in the community, one of them being theYouth Service.

As part of this partnership we are required to under go inspections. Consequently, last term our Senior Drama classes where observed by members of the Youth Commissioning Team and we are pleased to announce that we received a Gold Award for our class delivery, and apparently not many organisations manage to achieve this. So we are very pleased with ourselves.

The award can be seen in reception.

Welcome Back letter from Penni

Dear All,

MTC Team hopes you had a great Summer and are looking forward to the next few months of Show Preparation and somewhere in the middle of that … Christmas!

We had a very busy Summer holiday of workshops, the busiest we have ever had.  Carnival week was a massive success culminating in us winning First place in our Class on the night and then subsequently winning the vote for Best Overall entry! So well done to everyone who helped and everyone who took part.

Our new timetable launches this week and I ask you to bear with us as we settle in to the new arrangements, but for those of you who are wondering, we needed to change the Modern classes to during the week as we could not fit them all in on Saturdays and whilst we were doing that we thought it best to streamline the other classes at the same time.

The show is booked for:

Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 January at The Towngate Theatre Basildon.

Additional Rehearsals:

  • Weds 25 October
  • Sunday 10 December
  • Sunday 17 December
  • Weds 27 December
  • Thurs 28 December
  • Friday 5 January
  • Saturday 6 January
  • Sunday 7 January

Children will be needed all day or part of the day depending on what we need to cover on that day.

Show registration dates are:

  • Saturday 7 October 10.30 – 12.30
  • Saturday 14 October 2pm – 4pm

You MUST come along during one of these times if you wish to take part in the show, otherwise we will assume you do not wish to.  This will not affect your child’s attendance, as we will all learn the show pieces anyway.

There will be additional costs involved in the show, but we do try to keep these to a minim.

We are also very lucky to have secured tickets to see Lee Mead in Panto at the Cliffs in Jack and the Beanstalk, front row, opening night Saturday 16 Dec Evening performance at a reduced cost of £28.50, these will be sold on a first come first served basis, please let us know asap if you would like some tickets.

Hope you all have a fabulous half term.

Penni and the Team x

Welcome back!

School Holidays are over, and we’re back with a new Timetable!

Just a few quick reminders and notices to kick-start the term though…

You will have received a “Personal Information Form” over the Summer – please return ASAP, or pick a new one up.
It includes several new questions, which help with funding applications and planning, but have a chat with us if you’re unsure about anything on the form – there are no trick questions!

Class Fees should be paid via Standing Order please – you set this up with your Bank yourself, and you remain in full control of this. Payments are due by the 5th of each month.

Show Registration dates have been set. The Show (13-14 January 2018 at Towngate Theatre, Basildon) is entirely optional, but everyone is welcome to take part, and classes will continue as usual for those that choose not to. Anyone wanting to be in the show though MUST attend ONE of the sessions:
• Saturday 7th October 10.30am -12.30pm
• Saturday 14th October 2.00pm – 4.00pm

Our Fundraising Team are always looking for new ideas (and offers of help) – please contact Steve to chat about this more.

The Studios are available for hire – whether that’s for other arts/exercise classes, parties, meetings, interviews… contact us for info.

Carnival 2017

Carnival 2017

A group of 40+ children/young people have spent all week making all the decorations for the float from recycled materials gathered from parents, family and friends.

This is an integrated group of disabled and non-disabled children/young people working together to bring you the float that you see today. The unique project enables parents/carers to have some respite from caring from sometimes severely disabled children, and also allows the children to participate in activities with their peers away from their parents, in a safe and social environment. The dancers have worked on the dances this week learning one each day until they are put together to form the complete routine.

We have participated in the Southend Carnival for many years, and it is an event that the students look forward to every year – with planning beginning some months before the event. We are supported by a fabulous group of staff and parents who willingly give up their time during the week to help the children and make the costumes to make this a project that the children can be proud of.
