Dear All,
Many of you will know that for the past 8 years we have been fundraising to enable us to develop a fully inclusive performing arts centre, a place of our own for everyone to benefit from and continue to enjoy the performing arts regardless of ability, social class, ethnicity, sexual orientation etc. I am delighted to tell you that we have recently secured new premises, purchased by one of our parents and being leased long term to us. It is basically a shell of a building which requires some substantial renovation so we will therefore use the funds we have already raised to develop the new building. This is such a long awaited development and and at times has seemed to be an impossible dream. However, we are all very excited about the prospect of finally achieving our goal even if it is a very daunting prospect.
As I have already said, at the moment the building is an empty shell and there is a huge amount of work to be undertaken to turn this shell into a state of the art centre with all the necessary facilities for our students. Obviously this huge amount of work comes with a huge price tag!
Over the past 10 years the fundraising team have been working tirelessly to reach this point and will continue to arrange various activities to raise more funds, but we cannot reach this next goal without YOUR help. Your unwavering support and belief has made a huge contribution so far and we would really appreciate any support you are able to provide by attending fundraising events, making donations of goods for events such as boot sales etc, and anything else you can think of. We will keep you up to date with fundraising events as they are arranged, so keep an eye out for posters at MTC and please regularly check the website for all the details.
Building work will begin very soon, and if any parents/carers have any contacts that may be useful when it comes to providing materials please, please let us know. We have an enormous shopping list, which includes everything from certain building materials to paint, kitchen equipment and office furniture and everything else in between!
To celebrate this wonderful news and the achievements of all MTC students we will be holding a Summer Family BBQ and Awards Ceremony on Sunday 13th July from 3pm to 5pm at Mushroom. Tickets for this event will be £6 per person, including a burger/hotdog and a drink. You are welcome to bring your own extra drinks. There will be lots of prizes being awarded and we would love you to join us. Please bring along friends and family to join in our celebrations. More information about the new premises will be provided at this event.
I hope you will agree that this event will be a fantastic way for everyone to come together and recognise the hard work of all the students over the past year.
Thank you!
Penni
Great News…sounds like you could do with the DIY SOS – Big Build team…might be worth dropping them a line!!
Great news Penni x
We’ve been sitting on the news for a little while as we wanted to let all the children/parents know in person about the building before it went in local press today. This is in fact the same building that we lost right before the show, but through some amazing and unexpected circumstances it’s all been turned around. That photo we shared on the website at the weekend was taken whilst some of the team cracked open a celebratory bottle in the “blank canvas” that Penni now has the keys to (even if she can’t work out what key does what). Incredibly exciting, but still an incredible amount of work to do.
