It’s been an exhausting week for many but none of the team regret a minute of it. The Madagascan float is looking awesome, and we’re almost all set. Here’s a sneak peak at how it looked as the windows were painted onto the New York skyline:
King Julien, Alex, Melman and Gloria will be joined by dancers and a monkey trying to fly an airplane – do feel free to come down to the seafront Saturday evening and cheer us on.
We’ll be collecting directly for Equal People throughout the procession, so please help fill our buckets. Notes weigh less than coins, so make it easier to carry. Our entry into the carnival has been sponsored by a local business, so every penny pound we collect will be going directly to the charity.
The carnival starts from Southchurch Park at 7.45pm, goes along Southend seafront past the Pier at 8.30pm and reaches Shorefield Road in Westcliff at 9.30pm.
The best viewing point is City Beach, where there will also be an accessible viewing area “for people with disabilities or those who wish to watch the procession in a more secure environment” (taken the carnival website – of course we know full well that there are no “people with disabilities”).
