Five weeks ’til showtime, eek! (update – only 2 now, extra eek!)
Our Celebrate show is a really special event for us, celebrating ten fantastic years, and many great achievements. We want to make the show accessible to as many people as possible – physically and financially – and also use it as an opportunity to continue raising funds towards our vision of an accessible performing arts venue in the area.
To that end, there are a number of ways that individuals and local businesses can get involved in supporting us as we Celebrate!
We’ll be holding a raffle at each of the shows, and also at our Curry Night. If you are able to donate a prize or two that would be great. It could be a physical item – maybe even an unwanted Christmas present – or a service… maybe you run a salon and can donate a manicure, a gardener may offer an hour’s work…. you get the idea?
Advertising and Sponsorship
We have a number of opportunities for local businesses and organisations to advertise in the show programme from just £10, or even to sponsor a show or our VIP Charity Reception. Show sponsors would have an opportunity to promote themselves at the show, receive free tickets, be promoted in our programme at all shows, and also be promoted through our Social Media channels, and those of the company that is organising the sponsorship for us. Advertising starts at just £10 for a box ad or £50 for a full-size ad. Show sponsorship is £500 and could be classed as advertising/marketing or charitable donation if the accountants ask.
We have many other fundraising plans for 2014, some of which we have secured match-funding for from local and national businesses. If you work for a Company that offers charity match funding we’d love to hear from you!
Finally we have some much-needed building work to commission, which will enable us to expand what we currently offer to local children and young people, in particular those who are disabled or have additional needs. To that end we’re also keen to hear from any builders or tradesmen who may be able to offer services or materials to the Charity.

Our Ten Year Anniversary Show – Celebrate! – will take place during February Half-Term at Seevic College.
Participation in the show is entirely optional, but all the children and parents who have been involved before would attest it it being a wonderful experience and lots of fun. Although classes will focus on show pieces for the next few weeks we will not exclude children who are not taking part in the show. It’s business (and classes) as usual… just with a little extra stress for the staff! 😉
Thursday 20 February – VIP night – tickets by invitation only
Friday 21 February – evening performance only at 7.30pm
Saturday 22 February – performances at 2.30pm & 7pm
As usual students MUST register at MTC during one of the following times:
Sunday 12 January 3-5pm or
Saturday 18 January 9-11am
For those unfamiliar with how we operate the show registration days, it’s simply an opportunity to take care of all the pre-show admin in one shot. You don’t need to be there for the full two hours – just drop in for 20 minutes at a time that suits you.
We’ll measure children for their costumes and you will also be able to…
pay costume deposit (£20) cheque or cash in a named envelope, which we return once costumes come back
buy good luck boxes (£5)
place a personalised ‘good luck’ message in the Show Programme
order MTC T-Shirts (£10) if you don’t already have a black MTC polo shirt these can be ordered for you
reserve tickets (£9 each)
we expect tickets to sell quickly and advice paying for them now if possible
If you do not attend Show registration it will be assumed you are not doing the show: no exceptions.
Please note: We will also need to charge a hire fee for costumes of between £5 and £15 depending on the items. This will be confirmed in due course.
We will do as much as possible in regular class times, though it may be necessary to arrange additional rehearsals nearer the time. We’ll let you know.
The following extra rehearsals will take place during half-term week, at a cost of £3 each:
Tuesday 18 February 10am-3pm – Dress rehearsal at MTC
Thursday 20 February 12pm-4pm – Dress & Technical rehearsal at Seevic
MTC – The Mushroom Theatre Company were awarded three gold stars from the judges of Got to Dance 2012 and the audience gave a standing ovation after the MTC’s performance to Michael Jackson’s Earth Song.
Despite the judges glowing coments for the company MTC did not make it through to the live finals. It was a truely fantastic experience for everyone involved and we will look forward to seeing the show when televised in January 2012.
