Southend Carnival 2013

On Saturday 17th August Mushroom Theatre Company once again entered the Southend Torchlight Carnival Procession; this year with a SHREK-themed float and dancers. Everyone had a great time (despite the wind, though at least it wasn’t the following weekend with all that rain!) and we walked (danced?) away with a few awards too – a lovely end to a fantastic week:

  • Best Youth Group
  • Best in Non-Trading class
  • Best in Procession

Well Done Everyone!

Look forward to seeing you at Southend Carnival 2014!

Olly Pike is an old student of mine from Fitz and he has been in the West End Show ‘We Will Rock You’, CBBC’s Trapped and is now with the Dora the Explorer touring production. He recently came down to Mushroom to run some workshops and help out with PALS and everybody loved him. Olly has recently sent a show reel audition to Blue Peter and would love you all to watch it, like it & share it on YouTube….

Check out the officil video of the day and see clips of MTC as they performed a processional dance for Boreas at Hockley Woods.

It was a fantastic day of fun, games, dance and celebration. We look forward to seeing Boreas again on 6th July at the Highland Parks for the final spraks will fly event.

MTC Quiz Night – May 2012

The latest quiz night was a great success; raising over £450 which was generously matched by the Rayleigh Branch of Barclays Bank, giving us a grand total of over £900!!

All who attended were put to the test mentally by Quiz Master Paul Mitchell who had kindly put a challenging but fun compilation of questions together and scorer Pat Mitchell was on hand to tot up the teams totals.

The traditional quiz night games of heads and tails had everyone up in their seats as well as the chance to win a bottle of vodka by bowling coins across the floor.

A big thanks to all who attended, donated or contributed to the quiz and congratulations to the winning team!
